What I enjoy outside of work
This website showcases some of my work and skills, but what do I get up to when not working? You know that saying - if you need something done, ask a busy person...
Activities
I love riding and had my own horse until recently, we used to compete at endurance and dressage. I still ride regularly and also enjoy swimming, Pilates, walking and cycling.
Travel and tour leading
I have led over 25 Naturetrek tours since 2002, all over Europe, acting as guide, driver, lunch provider and all in my spare time! (link below). I also travel as much as possible under my own steam, with North America and the Middle East favourite destinations. Since November 2023, I have been thrilled to be a Trustee and Council member of The Ornithological Society of the Middle East (OSME).
Gardening
As a botanist it was inevitable! We are lucky to have 1/2 acre garden where we grow most of our vegetables and salad, as well as having an abundance of flowers. I have been lucky enough to design several gardens, even winning a 'commended' at Gardeners' World live!
...and the rest
I sing with two choirs (I'm an alto), love photography, history and my pets - a house rabbit and a tank of subtropical fish.
I am a member of several specialist interest groups, a Police Special Volunteer and a Parish Councillor.
